There are so many things that I can not live without that are not here or too expensive👎.

So I say, thank goodness for Amazon.💋  Here are two ways to ship items you can't live without.📦


Shipping from the United States to the DR
If you are in the DMV (DC, Maryland or Virginia), Pennisylvania, New York area and would like to send items to your family in the DR, I would recommend Mamota Shipping. They will come to your house and pick up the item as well as drop off the item to the address you indicate in Santo Domingo or Santiago. My items arrived within 4 weeks. They usually take between 3-5 weeks to arrive in the Dominican Republic. They call the night before they arrive with an arrival time window.

When ordering online Amazon asks for a shipping address, therefore you must send your package to the Encargo Paq address with the code that is emailed to you. Amazon will ship the package to Encargo Pag in Medley, FL then they will send it to the DR.  Here you will pay $3.80 cents per pound up to 70 pounds. So you pay by weight. 

 The address will look like this:

(Your full name as you signed up online)
8401 NW. 90th. Street.
Ste. DO55-55555 (your specific code that you sent to you)
Medley, FL 33166

Their U.S. phone number is 305-599-0185. Their DR numbers are 809-587-1000, 809-724-8657, 849-630-5703.

Sending Money

For those that want to save on their Western Union bill or money wiring. Have your family member that is living in the Dominican Republic open a Banco Popular account. Banco Popular will give you a specific number that your family member in the United States may use to deposit money into your Banco Popular account here in the Dominican Republic 💸

As a foreigner Banco Popular requires many documents in order to open up an account. For example:

1. A letter of employment (YES, you have to be working) 
2. Passport
3. Driver's Licence or Social Security card
4. U.S. American Bank Account information
5. Personal References
6. Banco Popular forms signed and dated

But once opened, it will save you and your loved ones a lot of time and money💰 especially if you plan on staying here a while.

    I would appreciate details on how to get money into the DR through Banco Popular (BPD) without wiring. I don't understand the "specific number" you mentioned and how it specifically works.I already have both DOP and USD accounts at BPD. Thanks!

My New Favorite Drink The Cafeteria here is amazing!😆 The food is delicious and there is a variety of things you can order. It is a mini restaurant.   The menu posted on the wall does not encompass the variety of food that they prepare.  It is also made to order so it is fresh🍎 and made from scratch. They do have the typical  lunch items such as hamburgers, hot dogs🌭 and pizza. But they also have tacos, Cesar salads, quesadillas, Cuban sandwich,empanadas, and Quipe. They also have the Dominican classics: fried cheese🧀, mash plantains, fried plantains, and salami.  Bandera Dominicana After 12 noon they have chicke n, rice, beans,and salad. This traditional meal is otherwis e known as  "La Bandera"⚑ (the flag).   Although the food is delicious😋, it is a bit pricey💰. My favorite drink, Aloe is 80 pesos which is $1.75. Wendy's in the Dominican Republic - Frosty anyone?

***The peso as of today is at $47 to $1 dollar. All prices listed are in pesos💸.  My kids and I were so excited to see that there was a Wendy's near our apartment🏘.  Of course we enjoy going to Wendy's in the States so we were expecting the same experience we had back home. We all know that Wendy's is a franchise but even a franchise makes some cultural🌏 adjustments to its menu. Let's discuss the positives first, shall we? 1. Customer Service 2. Decor 3. Price 4. Similar Menu Combos 1. The customer service was excellent🛃.  Everyone was patient with the kiddos and I, as we were trying to figure out what exactly we wanted.  Decor 2. The Halloween theme was perfect.  The entire store was decorated and even some of the employees were dressed up👻. It  made the kids feel right at home.  3. School Supplies in the Dominican Republic! (Part 1)

Teaching at a small private school, I wish someone would have told me the things I would need before I arrived in country. As a result, I am writing this in hopes to help all of you.🏫 1. Lab top  Most of the schools here do not provide a teacher computer in the classrooms (laptop or classroom desktop).  They do provide however the connection cords to use the projector with your lab top. There are very few schools with Smart boards. At my school only the lower grades have Promethean boards.💻 Most schools do have a teacher's lounge which provides desktop computers for you to plan. 2.
